Phil’s Farewell Thoughts
After thirteen years at Falcon it is hard to find a place to start this. The easiest place to begin is Thank You. Thank You to Falcon for being my home for such a long time. Thank you to every camper I have ever had the pleasure to meet, play tennis with, teach sailing to, run a weekend for, be a unit leader for, or live in a cabin with. Campers are what keeps this place young and vibrant. Without the energy you bring to camp there would be no Falcon.
Thank you to every counselor I have ever worked with. While the campers give us energy and vibrancy, you give us direction and focus. While climbing the ladder of Falcon from junior boy to Senior boy to CIT to junior counselor to Senior Staff, Waterfront Director/Unit Leader to Program Director I have had many a counselor some good, some bad and some unforgettable ones. I especially want to thank Todd, Nici and Debbi for being role models and giving me something to strive for in excellence.
Thank you to all of the counselors this summer who have made my last experience at falcon a tremendous one. Without all of you I would not be able to leave this place feeling like I finished on a strong note.
Thank you to Dave and Emily for providing me with a place and environment that allowed me to grow into a young man, learn the difference between right and wrong, and share my passion for working with children. Along with Cas and Hannah you have been a second family to me for years and it has been exciting watching you all grow.
Thank you to Dave for giving me the tools to be able to move on and feel like I am making the right decision. You have been a

tremendous teacher, mentor, co-worker, and most of all a friend for so many years.
Thank you for everything you have done. I want all of you to have a chance to experience camp in the manner in which I have. THANK YOU.
--Phil Consolo

Early Registration 2007
Information about early registration for the summer of 2007 will be mailed by the end of October and will begin November 1. It is already time to start thinking about next summer.
There are several important things to note about planning for 2007 (other than it will be a great time, of course). First, we will move our calendar back one week so that camp will open on June 24 and end on August 18. Second, it has become almost essential for senior campers to register early to guarantee space. This would include Hawks and Eagles. Last year, many of the sessions were filled during early registration in the seniors. It is important to remember this for campers who are moving from junior camp to senior camp next summer. We want everyone to have every opportunity to return to Falcon before we offer space to new families.

From the Director
Change and consistency do not have to be opposites. They are two of the very things that make Falcon “a second home” for so many campers, staff and alumni.
The strength of our program, our values, depth of the care, the administrative experience base and our camp traditions are much of what makes Falcon consistent year after year. Campers, parents and staff know what to expect, that they can trust what we say and do, that we care about the expectations and the outcomes of our efforts.
This consistency is what creates the environment that allows each camper to change, grow and blossom in meaningful ways. There is a genuine feeling of home, of family, of friendships beyond just having a great time in activities. This growth doesn’t just apply to campers but also to staff. Read the thoughts of some of the staff and you can sense the depth of the care for their campers, their jobs and Falcon itself. This is part of what makes Falcon the place it is.
Change is also inevitable at Falcon as every year some campers move to staff, some staff graduate and have to move towards their career. Such is the case with Phil Consolo after all these years. Phil leaves with our blessing and a sense of purpose in seeking his future. Phil enlisted in the Air Force and so will be a part of us in a bit different way. We will miss him at Falcon but he will always remain part of the Falcon family, the Devey family and a friend of mine. Phil’s leaving is not all a sad affair. The consistency of Falcon is that some of the staff Phil has helped train will take a step up, evolve into the next top level and create their own Falcon memories.
