WHAT MAKES FALCON CAMP SPECIAL?

What makes Falcon special?

"There are so many camps that focus on a specific area and to find one that develops the whole child, letting them try new things without pressure, is refreshing." - Linda Parker, First time camp mom

Perhaps you'll realize it the first time you drive down the one and a half mile narrow dirt road to Falcon, surrounded totally by forest. Just as you start to wonder if you've left civilization behind forever, you drive around a bend and are welcomed to Falcon by smiling faces wearing red staff shirts.

Perhaps you'll start to realize it when you park by the dining hall, to be welcomed by the directors this time. You see other camp families around you and your first thought is that they must all be neighbors at home because everyone seems so relaxed and glad to see each other. As you stand in the infirmary check in line and are introduced to the others arriving around you, you realize they don't all live on the same street at home but come from everywhere: different cities, different states, even different countries. One thing that is easy to see is how glad everyone seems to be that they are at Falcon.

Perhaps you'll realize it when you drive to the cabin to unload and meet the counselors and the campers who already arrived. You'll see how everyone wants to welcome you, help you unload the car and offer to take you on a tour of camp. You will feel the genuine warmth in the words "welcome to Falcon".

After getting settled in the cabin and taking a walk around camp, it is time for parents to leave. Both parents and campers will be reminded that we don't really start having fun until after all the parents have gone home. Then starts the special journey of becoming a Falcon camper.

Falcon is special and Falcon is different from anywhere else you've been. Whenever or however you first start to get that feeling of something special happening, you will soon start to understand what we mean. Here are some of the thoughts of current Falconers and those Falconers too old to be campers (there are no former Falcon campers, just older ones) about what makes Falcon special:

"Dear Mr. Devey and all Falcon Staff: I wanted to thank you for giving my son such a great camp experience. He enjoyed everything about camp and made a lot of friends. He especially enjoyed meeting and hanging out with his counselors, Phil, Ethan and Jonas. I hope you can pass along my appreciation to them for doing such a great job. I hope my son will decide to be a counselor-in-training next year and I wanted to be sure he is on the mailing list. You may include me on your list of parents that potential campers can call for a recommendation. Again, thanks, and we'll see you next year." - Sincerely, Camp Mom

"Dave, This was our daughter's best year yet! Thank You!" - Longtime Camp Mom
