Drama and Athletics

At Falcon Camp, we encourage our campers to embrace their talents while also exploring new activities. You never know what could spark your interest! Have you always wanted to take the stage and try your hand at acting? Or maybe you’re on the basketball team at school and want to test your athletic abilities in other sports?

Whenever D/A (Drama and Athletics) comes up in the rotation for your unit (learn more about this concept here), you can hone in your talents on stage or on the court/field.

Drama

Campers singing and dancing at summer camp

Do you watch movies or TV and think, “I could do that!”? Or maybe you’ve been to a play recently and would love the chance to take the stage yourself? If you feel especially drawn to the dramatic arts, you’ll have your chance to shine at Falcon Camp!

Our drama instructors start by equipping campers with the history and background knowledge of theater they need to understand why things work the way they do on stage. Campers will become familiar with common theater terms like “stage left” or “down stage”, and they’ll learn about the six elements of drama—plot, character, thought, diction, spectacle, and song.

Athletics

Campers have plenty of opportunities to try out their athletic abilities. Yes, you will get to play sports with fellow campers, but first you’ll learn some foundational skills that all great athletes have.

Campers will learn how to hone their skills, improve team-play, put in hard work, and test endurance. But don’t worry! Campers that aren’t particularly good at sports can still enjoy this part of the activity rotation. With the guidance of our kind and friendly instructors, you may prove to be better than you thought—and you’ll have fun in the process with your new friends.
